Thank you Raincoaster . . . Thunderbirds Are GO!!

Thanks to Rain, I had a tres cool flashback to my youth.

Yeah, Jonny Quest was pretty cool (especially with his dad having worked on the Nuremberg tribunal and all that) but that was nothing compared to "Thunderbirds Are Go!"

And the live-action movie pretty much sucked air . . .

I thought the live-action movie was excellent! You're such a classicalist, Fronty.

Well, I will admit that Penelope was a stone cold babe in the live action, but I still gotta stand by Supermarionation.

What does it mean that I've never heard of this before?

It means you've led a deprived life. Thunderbirds rawked!

SUPERMARIONATION FOR THE NATION!

Just assume, when you're watching a 60's-90's era film or tv show, and you don't get the references, that the references are to the Thunderbirds. F-A-B!

Supermarionation was the tradename that Gerry and Sylvia Anderson had for string puppeteering for a bunch of action shows in the 60's. You really have to see it.

I remember Fireball XL5, but I don't recall Thunderbirds. We didn't get many channels.

I was a Firball XL5 man myself. Can't remember a thing about it though. Were the two shows related in any way?

Thunderbirds were awesome! Johnny Quest and Hadji were so cool..remember the one with the Komodo Dragons..the Condors..GAWD!
Thunderbirds looked REAL to me when I was a kid...well the machines anyway... all of the characters walked around like math teachers with protractors up their ass.

To this day I cannot get "Mitch get out of the supaaahcar!" out of my head. Why is that?
