My sleep cycle is really messed up . . .

For the last three months I have not been able to sleep more than three hours straight. Tonight, I called it a night around 10:30 p.m. It's now 1:45 a.m. local and I'm sitting at the kitchen table wide awake doing this. This is actually a record length of time for me to sleep, and I'll probably be back under in an hour.

By the way, remember the possums of July? Two of the buggers showed back up Saturday evening, leading to the merriment of a marsupial hunt. Both were bagged safely and released a suitable distance from Case del FE.

I wish I could get a straight eight on the weekends. Just one night would be great.

I haven't slept through the night since sometime in 2000 - apparently a complete sleep cycle takes about 1.5 hours and the 'wake-up' vulnerable point is at the end/start hence the 3 hour span. Worry about not getting enough sleep keeps you awake which is why (if you're an insomniac) you can drop off at about 6 ish! It's also important not to look at the time! I took part in a sleep (lack of) research project and learned a great deal, much of it now forgotten, I do remember it was very interesting!

Canadian beer. Try Canadian beer. Mind you, the downside is that you'll wake up fat!

Aha, but I'm already fat so that isn't an issue.

Okay, maybe barrel chested . . . .

have you tried yoga?

Trust me - it would be a crime against humanity for me to try and assume even the most basic and least contortive yoga position. Children would scream, dogs would howl and the earth would assume at least two additional degrees of axis wobble if I did.

I think its normal with age. My nightly sleep has gone from 7 hours to five hours to lucky if I got four hours now. But I take a nap a couple of times a week.

Well...being a parent to four beauts, I stay up LATE. Late being til about 3 or 4 in the morning. I like to relish in my quiet time...meaning no husband and no kids disturbing me.

Sleep..what's that? A new health drink?

You all have my sympathies. I have no problem getting 7 or so hours a night (sorry, not bragging), normally.

I have three cats (yes, I'm the crazy cat lady of song and story). Cats have kittie crazies (like puppy frenzies) where they run around like insane beasts leaping over furniture, crashing into walls, face-planting into the garbage pail. It lasts anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour. This used to take place around 9pm. For the last two weeks it's been taking place at 2:30 AM. Three cats, using my bed as trampoline, running around like crazed ferrets on crack.

Forget getting back to sleep with your heart pounding in your chest. I swear these three are give me a heart attack some morning.

If it doesn't stop soon I will have three new fur rugs.

Fronty: What's this then?

I can still usually get 7 hours anyway, go to bed between 12 and 1 usually and wake at about 7.

I go to sleep listening to the American radio talk show Coast To Coast AM. There's a lot of wackos on there but I often find it interesting and nod off...zzzzzzz.

You need more than three hours at a time, man. Been to a doc?

And so THIS is what the possums were all about re the comment you left on my blog.

Sorry, yoga guy, I've got to get around to you every day...

I slept off most of Monday when I wasn't reading Lenin, that too in bed!

Try reading that! You will sleep for two days straight!

Actually, I found Lenin quite intriguing after an upper-level Russian history course, which probably doesn't speak well of me . . .
