Hey, let's remember, geeks in black rim glasses get the chicks in VIDEOS, not in real life. Groupies scream at anyone who showed up on MTV, simply because if they were there, well, then, someone in charge said they were cool. But it's all novelty.
They made pretty cool music nonetheless, so there.
Awesome! Holy Revnge of the Nerds BATMAN! Leah is one of my top ten songs of all time. I could not even estimate how many times I have listened to it...and always at a 'spinal tappian' 11..cause its 1 better. I have Someday on heavy rotation as well.. it is such an Everly/Holly sockhop back to a more innocent time UP song. Elvis is one of my faves too. Veronica has to be one of the best pop songs ever. Within and I listened to him all through college when he was so fresh and cutting edge. What's so funny bout Peace Love and Understanding OH OHOH! Great idea...geeks gotta rock!
I've always like Ah Leah, but I never knew Donny Iris looked so geeky. There was an advantage in not having videos for every song! But now I'm at the age where looks matter very little to me.
Fourteen years in the journalism biz, but don't let that stereotype about commie pinko bleeding heart liberal journalists fool you - I manage to disappoint conservatives and liberals alike. Whatever happened to common sense and rational thought? At least I'm not a neo-fascist, neo-Nazi or other political extremist. In fact, just about my entire political, social and metaphysical outlook can be explained in the movie "Blazing Saddles."
My journalistic idols? Carl Kolchak (thus the profile pic) and Irwin M. Fletcher.
As for my professional choice, it beats retail, restaurant management and scrambling around to fund graduate school.
I'm also pretty smug after 30 years - I knew back in 1976 that everyone else would come around and agree with me that the Electric Light Orchestra was cool. Just listen to those Monster.com, Volkswagen and J.C. Penneys commercials.

FANTASTIC, Fronty! Us bespectacled nerds -- and there are many of us -- can take solace in these three!
HE and I spent countless nights at his place listening to Donnie Iris and Elvis Costello while I was beating his ass at Blackjack in the 80s.
He's the music man, HE is, and these kinds of tunes plus Bowie, Supertramp, so many others, was just on all the time.
We rocked, we rolled, we drank more beer each night than was in his outdoor pool.
I always got the rotten end of the deal because I'd beat him at BlackJack and he'd always be doing the drinking.
Such is life.
Thanks for bringin' me back.

All I can say is that blonde chick in the Donnie vid is pretty hot, and I don't need my glasses to figure that out...
